Introduction & Overview
ZEB Automation's interface modules connect industrial 24 V control systems to modern IT interfaces. Each module connects eight digital inputs and eight digital outputs to PCs, terminals, or networks.
The modules can operate as I/O interfaces or use their integrated logic to run independent MFR timing functions (multifunction relay functions), such as on-delay, clock generator, and pulse functions.
Key Features
The following properties apply to the entire MFR series (XSP, XEP, XUP):
- 8 digital inputs: Designed for 24 VDC and galvanically isolated by optocouplers (
). - 8 digital outputs: Semiconductor switches (L-series) or relays (R-series), depending on the model.
- Status LEDs: Visual indication of every input, output, and data connection.
- Separate power supplies: Separate connections for logic (8–30 VDC) and the output load improve interference immunity.
- Industrial design: TS35 DIN-rail mounting and pluggable spring-cage terminals for conductors up to 0.5 mm².
Available Variants
The modules primarily differ in their communication interface and the type of outputs.
By Interface
| Series | Interface | Connection | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| XSP | RS-232 | 9-pin D-Sub (female) | Serial connection for terminals and industrial PCs. |
| XEP | Ethernet | RJ45 | 10/100BASE-T network connection with an integrated web server. |
| XUP | USB | USB Type-B | Direct PC connection through a virtual COM port. |
By Output Type
| Type | Designation | Technology | Performance |
|---|---|---|---|
| L | Solid-state | High-side semiconductor switch | 24 VDC / 0.6 A per channel. Wear-free and suitable for fast switching sequences. |
| R | Relay | Mechanical relay | Potential-free normally open contact rated for up to 3 A. Suitable when contact isolation is required. |
