RS232 Interface (XSP Series)
The XSP series (XSP01L, XSP01R, XSP11L, XSP11R) uses the classic serial interface according to RS-232 standard for maximum compatibility with industrial PCs, terminals, and PLC controllers.
Pin Assignment
The module is designed as DCE (Data Communication Equipment). The connection is made via a 9-pin DSUB socket (female).
| Pin | Signal | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | DCD | Data Carrier Detect (NC) |
| 2 | TXD | Transmitted Data* |
| 3 | RXD | Received Data* |
| 4 | DTR | DTE Ready |
| 5 | GND | Signal Ground* |
| 6 | DSR | DCE Ready |
| 7 | CTS | Clear to Send |
| 8 | RTS | Ready to Send |
| 9 | RI | Ring Indicator (NC) |
* Required connections for basic communication.
Connection to PC
For connection to a standard PC (DTE, 9-pin male connector), a 1:1 extension cable can be used. A null modem cable is not necessary in this case.

Remote Control Mode (RTU)
Like the Ethernet variant, two RS232 modules can also be coupled directly to mirror inputs to outputs. For this, the modules must be connected via a null modem cable (crossed lines) or a suitable transmission link (e.g., radio modems).
